The aim of this workstream is to improve the way that public sector assets are managed within Surrey. The public sector partners have expressed a common desire to share buildings and facilities across the county to improve services and reduce costs.
A mapping and data collection exercise with partners has now delivered the first phase of this work. This information has identified the estimated cost of operating and maintaining public sector assets across the 12 Local Authorities in Surrey as £58m per annum.
The next step is for partners to agree specific locations where they can work together to identify and develop opportunities for sharing and better managing assets to reduce costs. This phase is currently underway and progress will be reported to the Joint Committee at its meeting in June 2011.
