"saving money and improving services for people in Surrey"
Surrey First is a shared services project that is improving joint working between the twelve Surrey councils and Surrey Police.
For many years Surrey local authorities have been committed to working together in the interest of cutting costs and securing improved outcomes for residents. Public services are now faced with the prospect of operating under even tighter financial constraints and all partners have recognised the need to improve collaborative working in order to enable Surrey authorities to deliver better services to residents with ever more stretched resources.
The work of Surrey First is overseen by a Joint Committee, which first met on 28 June 2010. The purpose of the Committee is to:
- Oversee the joint working arrangements of the member authorities
- Promote good working practice
- Agree the work programme for Surrey First, including the workstreams and service areas
All partners have agreed six strategic objectives for Surrey First, which underpin the work of the Joint Committee.
