Each year the SLGA appoints District/ Borough representatives to a number of outside bodies. The member authorities are invited to make nominations to the various organisations, which are then considered by the Association's Nomination Panel. Each representative is appointed for a period of three years.
The 2009/10 Nominations Panel is comprised of Vice Chairman Councillor John Furey (Runnymede), Councillor Keith Mann (Epsom and Ewell), and Councillor Moira Gibson (Surrey Heath).

Active Surrey Sports Partnership
The Board is an advocate for sport and physical activity in Surrey and represents the County at a regional and national level. The Board comprises members from the Sports Council, voluntary organisations, governing bodies, sports officers, County and District/Borough Councillors, education, leisure providers, and the PCT.
Countryside Access Forum
The Countryside Access Forum is an independent body that provides advice to organisations in Surrey on improving access to the countryside - including rights of way and open access land. The Board has 22 Members representing a range of interests, including farmers, landowners, two County Councillors and an SLGA representative.
High Sheriffs Award Board
The High Sheriffs Award seeks to encourage projects which involve young people in preventing youth crime. The Scheme gives financial support to young people in Surrey who want to help make their communities stronger and safer.
Mental Health Foundation Trust
Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Trust provides health and social care services for people with mental health illness, drug and alcohol addictions and learning disabilities across Surrey and North East Hampshire.The overall aspiration of the Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Trust is to ensure that people living within its catchment area enjoy consistently good mental health and well being.
Regional Environmental Protection Advisory Committee (REPAC)
The Committee gives a regional perspective on the development of the Environment Agency's policy proposals and provides advice on regional priorities. It acts as a focus group which represents the range of interests affected by the Agencys work in the region. The Committee comprises 21 members from a number of organisations concerned with the environment, including local authorities.
Surrey CC Health Scrutiny Select Committee
Since January 2003, regulations under the Health and Social Care Act 2001 gave Councils statutory powers to watch over and promote health improvements in their areas.Councils with social care responsibilities can appoint overview and scrutiny committees which may review any matter relating to the planning, provision and operation of local health services and make reports and recommendations to local NHS bodies.The County Council appointed a Health Scrutiny Committee to fulfil this role in Surrey in conjunction with interested partners, including three District Council representatives.
SCC Pension Fund Investment Advisors Group
This panel oversees the management of the Surrey County Council Superannuation Pension Fund. The SLGA representatives on this Group provide regular update reports to each meeting of the Association.
South East Reserve Forces and Cadets Association
This Association is the regional civilian body for the South East and is comprised of voluntary members. It deals with the operational requirements of all reserve forces in Surrey.
Supporting People Commissioning Body
The Commissioning Body oversees the development of a Surrey wide strategy for housing related support services, and provides an environment for frank and challenging discussions about future funding priorities for Supporting People.
Surrey Compact Implementation Group
This Group oversees the implementation of the Surrey Compact. A Compact is a written commitment between public bodies and the voluntary and community to work together in the spirit of trust and respect.
Surrey Economic Partnership
Surrey Economic Partnership is a growing network of senior decision makers from the private, public and voluntary sectors who are keen to have a better understanding of the key challenges facing the Surrey economy and act on them by promoting the strengths of the economy and realising its potential.
Surrey Historic Buildings Trust
The Surrey Historic Buildings Trust aims to help preserve the historic architectural heritage in Surrey for the benefit of future generations by purchasing, selling, and restoring buildings. The Trust also makes grants and provides advice to owners. It is a registered charitable trust and is managed by a Board comprising members from Surrey County Council and the Surrey Branch of the Council for the Protection of Rural England, as well as the SLGA.
